I knew the bros have been working on a new album with "The” Rick Rubin for the past year but we had to yet to hear a peep from it. So I check out <a href="http://www.theavettbrothers.com/">their website</a> and sure enough, as of today, their first single is out and free! "I and Love and You" is a steady growing piano driven ballad that will be not only a perfect introduction to the new album but also to the band it's self, as along with their major label release will come a major amount of new fans. Come the due date of 9/29, it seems to be all but a certainty that this will be the Year Of the Avett. These guys are too talented, too earnest, and just too good to stay under the radar. I and love and you might be three of the hardest words to say but July, August and September are going to be three of the longest months to wait for this album.<br />Download:<br /><a href="http://aolradio.podcast.aol.com/aolmusic/mp3s/The_Avett_Brothers_I_and_Love_and_You.mp3">"I and Love and You"</a><div><br /></div><div>Oh yeah and the Bowerbirds album is really great too. Though not considered by most in the same league as peers such as the Klosterman's and Sedaris’ of the world, he has offered a compelling, unique and transcendent approaches to sports journalism. I just came across one of his more recent articles describing silly but ingénues ways to subjectively determine the best actors of all time. It's a great read and indicative of why I like Simmons so much; he combines my love of sports and film and makes it all the same.<br /><br /><a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3965213">Article Link</a>Nate LChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02086473990449612267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5021113651088392612.post-85981436400669984552009-03-17T13:00:00.000-07:002009-03-17T13:23:45.829-07:00Here We Go<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzdrdz_-jhGaw5KfoLaOsxr6ahOsT36DEEuZ0XzQFWS4C1sKNQ34CTN97fn6I6asw-75jNjT_x8SY8mUBEPa9MmBq15FnCXCOU7vAitkW0FoO4HWJ_8u9DqzI2Etfs1CxEVuzuEzmUF03K/s1600-h/awaywego_smalllogo.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 101px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzdrdz_-jhGaw5KfoLaOsxr6ahOsT36DEEuZ0XzQFWS4C1sKNQ34CTN97fn6I6asw-75jNjT_x8SY8mUBEPa9MmBq15FnCXCOU7vAitkW0FoO4HWJ_8u9DqzI2Etfs1CxEVuzuEzmUF03K/s400/awaywego_smalllogo.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314254999830861890" /></a>Watch this trailer linked here: <a href="http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810022133/video/12514834/20090316/150/12514834-1000-wmv-s.81965925-,12514834-100-flash-s.81965926-,12514834-300-flash-s.81965927-,12514834-700-flash-s.81965928-,12514834-1000-flash-s.81965929-,12514834-300-wmv-s.81965903-,12514834-700-wmv-s.81965907-,12514834-100-wmv-s.81965899-,12514835-10300-qtv-s.81965933-,12514835-2700-qtv-s.81965930-,12514835-6800-qtv-s.81965931-">Away We Go</a><br /><br />Sam Mendes? We have never heard an Alexi Murdoch song and have never seen cutesy titling before.<br /><br />Let imagine in this sovereign utopia you just saw this trailer, wouldn't you think it looks great?Nate LChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02086473990449612267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5021113651088392612.post-81555757118187764132009-03-04T17:03:00.000-08:002009-03-04T17:10:30.580-08:00Are You Not Wasting Enough Time?<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCkzieCP1LDkFVGZCBH4QuYJH8398FKrXT4sjKJUFdn0ssi47eGBqxa9E0uNs1PaCyzNJy7Ag4d1MGI7kLUqbsOkKD4EaP7k4bInIkc0OKYslY-L7o0tf8EUJaKn3wnNCRevc7rtFkpDfp/s1600-h/DRUM-SET.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 303px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCkzieCP1LDkFVGZCBH4QuYJH8398FKrXT4sjKJUFdn0ssi47eGBqxa9E0uNs1PaCyzNJy7Ag4d1MGI7kLUqbsOkKD4EaP7k4bInIkc0OKYslY-L7o0tf8EUJaKn3wnNCRevc7rtFkpDfp/s400/DRUM-SET.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5309503637093969394" /></a><br />...Well then go to this link and waste the day away (forever):<div><a href="http://www.ronwinter.tv/drums.html">RON WINTER’S DRUM SET</a></div>Nate LChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02086473990449612267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5021113651088392612.post-32961736914232607832009-03-04T16:52:00.001-08:002009-03-04T16:56:17.065-08:00Spoiler AlertThe academy awards just happened and we already know who wins all the awards next year. There needs to be a new music awards show that holds the seem esteem as the Grammy’s but actually awards the best albums and songs of the year. The Oscars do well in incorporating the best of mainstream and indie fair, so why can't we have a music award show that does the same? I purpose a music show where the industry leading music critics are the ones who do the voting. They know what's up. Grammy’s are for Grammy’s. <br /><br />However, there were some high lights from last night's show. First up the Four Best Rappers In The Game all got in stage with a super pregnant MIA and performed 2008's Swagger Like Us. I could never really get behind that song because with those dudes and an MIA sample it should have been the best song ever but it was just kind of OK. Now seeing everyone on stage I get it. This was a great moment is modern music.<br /><object width="325" height="244"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6KinRqxsY_s&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6KinRqxsY_s&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="325" height="244"></embed></object><br /><br />And of course I can't forget about Radiohead's holy shit performance of 15 Steps. This was always my least favorite amazing song on their every-song-is-amazing-album In Rainbows. Well, Tom and the gang joined by a big backing band killed it and splashed egg all over my face. So good (so good).<br /><br /><object width="380" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2aVzh1LSG8Q&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2aVzh1LSG8Q&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="380" height="295"></embed></object>Nate LChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02086473990449612267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5021113651088392612.post-62088210574544693242009-02-09T12:40:00.000-08:002009-02-09T12:52:44.116-08:00The Curious Case of Brad PittI've been in some Oscar debates recently regarding the merits of Brad Pitt's performance in Benjamin Button. I say he did some incredible work that not only showcased his talent but also showed how beneficial a symbiotic relationship with special effects can be. To others the technology discredits the performance he gave. I hope this interesting video shines some light on what it took for Brad to create the young/old Benjamin and maybe, just maybe you can give him some slack.<br /><object width="420" height="281"><param name="movie" value="http://www.traileraddict.com/emd/8423"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.traileraddict.com/emd/8423" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" wmode="transparent" allowfullscreen="true" width="420" height="281"></embed></object><br />Though, I still want to see Mickey Rourke win.Nate LChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02086473990449612267noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5021113651088392612.post-70108312592448568262009-01-30T17:40:00.000-08:002009-01-30T17:49:11.656-08:00NKOTBHere's a few new artists I've been listening too that are sure to make some sort of splash this year. The imposing 60's era voice over, the can't place it but it's familiar song, the multiple syllabled named actors, it's got it all. However the movie seems so likeably quirky that in no time it will be one of “those” movies. You know, you can only like it for a week before it becomes torn to shreds but the cooler then thou. I guess when can just enjoy the trailer for now while it exists in the infant backlash free stage of it’s life.<br /><br /><object width="450" height="252"><param name="movie" value="http://www.traileraddict.com/emd/8287"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.traileraddict.com/emd/8287" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="450" height="252"></embed></object>Nate LChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02086473990449612267noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5021113651088392612.post-79107687781049413032008-12-27T12:58:00.000-08:002008-12-29T13:12:58.025-08:00The Top 50 Albums of 2008<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDwXmv7iso4ebiwEHMRrPPdhJD2nRSYh7kOvgC0bvamqttNVsZ-RdQANx_A2Y6aX5Uvdpazogt6NdI61dY59S5hSKZ18aEywlY9m8tef0l-CiwzG8Qf7ZImWl5xlM5LdKzduZCwGmrqS0j/s1600-h/jag115.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDwXmv7iso4ebiwEHMRrPPdhJD2nRSYh7kOvgC0bvamqttNVsZ-RdQANx_A2Y6aX5Uvdpazogt6NdI61dY59S5hSKZ18aEywlY9m8tef0l-CiwzG8Qf7ZImWl5xlM5LdKzduZCwGmrqS0j/s320/jag115.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5284580744698087218" /></a><br />Bon Iver’s “For Emma Forever Ago” was technically released independently last year but with the insurgence of classic albums from <a href="http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=6703799670">2007</a>, it fell through my ear crack’s. Luckily for me <a href="http://www.myspace.com/boniver">Justin Vernon</a>’s project received a full-blown major label release this year and turned his small little album written into the Wisconsin woodland into a much-hyped modern folk classic. To me, this year, this album went far beyond the call of duty, it was more like a best friend. It was intimate when intimacy was called for, stirring when things went mundane and comforting when all else failed. It might just be testament to how many good album were made last year that one spilled over to the top spot this year but maybe it just proves that old proverb the music finds you at the right time.
